Hubbard Reservoir Recreation Area covers 450 acres in Ada County, just southwest of Nampa. Our tree farm near Hubbard Reservoir serves homeowners in Kuna and the southwest Treasure Valley who want shade, fruit, and evergreen trees for their yards.
A short drive matters when you buy trees. Less time on the road means less stress on root balls. Your trees arrive fresh and ready to grow.
Treasure Valley soils are alkaline with clay. Some areas have caliche hardpan layers below the surface. We grow trees that handle these conditions.
Our trees range from 5 to 10 years old. They are field-grown and ready for your yard.

If you moved to Nampa from out of state, local growing conditions may surprise you.
Trees that did well in your old yard might struggle here. Picking trees matched to this climate helps them grow stronger and live longer.
Nampa sits in USDA Zone 6b. Winter lows can dip below zero, even with recent warming trends.
Your trees need to handle cold snaps and bounce back in spring. You can check your exact zone on the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map.
Homeowners near Kuna and Meridian face similar conditions. We grow trees that do well across the Treasure Valley. Our stock is already adapted to local temps and soil.
July highs in Nampa often climb above 90°F. A large canopy tree can make your backyard usable again. Shade also cuts cooling costs when you plant on the south or west side of your home.
Nampa averages just 11 inches of rain each year. Drought-tolerant shade trees matter here. Honey Locust and Sensation Maples handle dry spells and still provide wide canopies.
Homeowners near Lake Lowell and Melba deal with the same hot, dry summers. These shade trees work well across the area. Pick a tree that fits your yard size and water plan.

Kuna is one of the fastest-growing areas in Idaho.
The population nearly tripled between 2000 and 2010. New lots often start bare with no mature trees for shade or privacy.
Evergreens give you screening that lasts all year.
Austrian Pine and Columnar White Pine block wind and road noise. They also create a buffer between you and neighboring homes.
Subdivisions like Ruby Creek and Walnut Creek along
Ten Mile Road sit close to busy streets. A row of evergreens softens traffic sounds and keeps your yard private. These trees handle Treasure Valley winters and alkaline soil.

Timing your planting around the seasons helps trees settle in before summer heat. Cooler temps reduce transplant shock. Roots have time to spread and take hold.
Nampa's irrigation season runs mid-April through early October. Plant before turn-on in spring or after shutoff in fall. This gives your tree a few weeks to adjust before water schedules change.
Homeowners served by Nampa-Meridian, Pioneer, or Boise-Kuna irrigation districts follow similar timelines. Plan your purchase around these dates. We can help you pick the right window for your area.
Mature trees give your yard instant curb appeal. But moving a large tree on your own is hard. You need a truck, trailer, and help lifting heavy root balls.
Our crew delivers and plants trees on-site. You skip the trailer rental and heavy lifting. We handle transport so your tree arrives without damage.
Large caliper trees are popular in Treasure Valley developments. New lots often start bare with no shade or privacy. A delivered tree saves you years of waiting for growth.

Trees are serious, and so are your questions. Here are just a few:
When is the best season to plant trees near Hubbard Reservoir?
Fall or early spring works best. Plant before the April irrigation turn-on or after the October shutoff. This gives roots time to settle before water schedules change and summer heat arrives.
Do I need a permit to plant street trees in Nampa?
Yes, trees in the public right-of-way need City Forester approval. You must pick from the City's approved species list. Trees on your private property do not require a permit.
How do I break through caliche hardpan before planting?
Drill or use a jackhammer to break through the layer. Caliche is common south of I-84 in the Treasure Valley. Breaking through it
lets roots spread and water drain properly.
Can I schedule tree delivery on weekends near Kuna?
Yes, we offer weekend delivery. Confirm lead time during the busy spring season. Slots fill quickly from March through May.
What trees handle Nampa's alkaline soil?
Honey Locust, Hackberry, and Bur Oak adapt well to high pH soils. These species tolerate the alkaline clay found across the Treasure Valley.
Is the tree farm open during Hubbard Reservoir trail events?
Yes, we stay open. Trail use peaks from March through May for hiking and birdwatching. Call ahead on busy weekends to confirm availability.
