The Hawthorne tree is a deciduous tree with upright spreading or bushy habits; some varieties can be kept as shrubs. They have fragrant white or pink five-petaled flowers that resemble apple blossoms. The Hawthorn leaves of the tree are green, and, in the fall, they turn red, orange and purple. The Hawthorne is very heat and drought tolerant.
